Maitham Mohammadzadeh’s father: I just found out what happened to my son

The reports that are continuously sent to the human rights watchdog of Iranian Kurdistan show very unfortunate dimensions of the situation of Iranian Kurdish citizens in the border areas.

Militant groups that have been the opposition for many years, both during the Pahlavi period and during the Islamic Republic, and have always been instrumental in the separation and division of Iran, now it is no longer just a political conflict of an armed and violent type.

When a 16-year-old child is tricked and taken to the friendly and neighboring country of the Kurdistan region for war, who should hear the cry of these parents?

Maitham Mohammadzadeh is a child whose family was unaware for the fourth consecutive year until the Iranian Kurdistan Human Rights Watch managed to find a trace of him and this family from Inform the status of their child.

Children are kidnapped, trained, and they are armed. It doesn’t matter to them if they are 13 years old or 18 years old, their only goal is to recruit members, even criminals call their families when they take someone hostage, but PJAK and PKK do nothing to inform their families of their whereabouts. They do not give them news. In an interview with Maitham’s father, it was revealed that they had not heard anything about their son until today.

Maitham’s father stated that:

My son was a student, he went to middle school, he didn’t even have a mobile phone, I don’t know how he left home! We never had any problems with each other, I provided everything for my children as much as possible, but I don’t know what happened when Maitham left the house and the family.

After Maitham went missing, we looked for him everywhere, visited police stations, hospitals and other centers, but there was no sign of him. We even printed his picture in the newspapers so that we could find him, but still there was no news.

Now that I’m talking to you, I just found out where my son was imprisoned and caught, I’m really shocked, I don’t know what to say, my son never knew anything about any party, so if he has become a member of PKK, definitely someone tricked him into it.

It could be one of his friends or the members of PJAK who are running rampant in our area. God, I don’t know what to do, I don’t have a good financial situation to pursue it and get a lawyer. I can only ask the organizations and offices that can find news about my son to give us the slightest news about him.

I haven’t seen my child for nearly four years, only the pain of our child’s distance remains in my heart and his mother’s heart.

Iranian Kurdistan Human Rights Watch will publish and follow up the case of children kidnapped by PJAK in the coming days.
