The massive explosion resulted in the total destruction of the building, claiming the lives of six family members.<\/p>\n<h2 data-path-to-node=\"13\"><b data-path-to-node=\"13\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Victims of the Eyvan Tragedy: From a Physician to a 6-Month-Old Infant<\/b><\/h2>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"14\">The victims of this tragic incident, who perished during the recent wave of attacks, are:<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"15\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"15,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"15,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Ali-Nazar Mahmoudi<\/b><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"15,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"15,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Maryam Mohammadi<\/b><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"15,2,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"15,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Dr. Afshar Khosravi<\/b><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"15,3,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"15,3,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Elham Mahmoudi<\/b><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"15,4,0\">Two young children: <b data-path-to-node=\"15,4,0\" data-index-in-node=\"20\">Rayan Khosravi<\/b> (5 years old) and <b data-path-to-node=\"15,4,0\" data-index-in-node=\"53\">Nila Khosravi<\/b> (6 months old).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"16\">This event raises serious questions under International Humanitarian Law (IHL) that demand accountability from international bodies.<\/p>\n<h2 data-path-to-node=\"17\"><b data-path-to-node=\"17\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Legal Analysis: Violation of the Principles of Distinction and Proportionality<\/b><\/h2>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"18\">The principle of <b data-path-to-node=\"18\" data-index-in-node=\"17\">&#8220;Distinction,&#8221;<\/b> as outlined in Article 48 of the First Additional Protocol to the Geneva Conventions (1977), requires parties to a conflict to distinguish between military objectives and civilians. Article 57 also emphasizes the duty to take all feasible precautions to minimize civilian harm. Moreover, under Article 52(1), civilian objects\u2014including residential homes\u2014must not be the object of attack.<\/p>\n<h2 data-path-to-node=\"20\"><b data-path-to-node=\"20\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Right to Life and the Convention on the Rights of the Child<\/b><\/h2>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"21\">Beyond these rules, Article 6 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) recognizes the inherent right to life. The Convention on the Rights of the Child also stresses special protection for children during armed conflicts. The presence of 5-year-old Rayan and 6-month-old Nila among the victims highlights the profound violation of these international conventions.<\/p>\n<h2 data-path-to-node=\"22\"><b data-path-to-node=\"22\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Is the Eyvan Attack a War Crime?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"23\">If this building was not a military objective, or if the civilian casualties were predictable and disproportionate, such an attack could constitute a violation of the fundamental rules of IHL.
