The fault for the recruitment of their children cannot be placed with their families, as nearly all families interviewed do not support the groups that have taken their children, nor was recruitment by these groups the future they had envisioned for their children.<\/p>\n<p>Guchloo stated:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span lang=\"en-US\">It is well known that <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">all people,<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> in every nation, and even in every family, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">envision a future for their children<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">. Therefore, in order for their children and young people to understand each other well, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">work and t<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">h<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">rive, they try to provide their children with<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> good <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">living <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">conditions, a<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">n a <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">good education.\u201c<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span lang=\"en-US\">The Kurdish nation, too, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">envision a future for their young people, and their children<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">. They also have the mindset and goal of having their children and young people grow up in good <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">living <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">conditions, get an education, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">and to at least <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">finish high school. That is why they do not want their children and youth to <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">be recruited by these groups,<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> perish and be killed. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">The Kurdish people try to protect their<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> children and young people with many sacrifices.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span lang=\"en-US\">Unfortunately, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">certain actors<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> aim <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">for<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> the Kurdish nation <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">not <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">to develop; that is why Kurdish children and youth have been <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">targets for years<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">. They are well aware that the youth are the most active and creative part of the Kurdish society.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"wf0poaVdoB\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ikhrw.com\/en\/article\/geneva-call-will-you-follow-up-on-these-children\/\">Geneva Call; will you follow up on these children?<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"&#8220;Geneva Call; will you follow up on these children?&#8221; &#8212; Iranian Kurdistan Human Rights Watch\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ikhrw.com\/en\/article\/geneva-call-will-you-follow-up-on-these-children\/embed\/#?secret=QgfEkE9CTu#?secret=wf0poaVdoB\" data-secret=\"wf0poaVdoB\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"western\">PKK is the largest child-killer in the region<\/h2>\n<p>PKK has a good reason for recruiting children and generally under-educated people. The reason for this lies in its problems with other Kurdish groups, intellectuals and parties.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span lang=\"en-US\">The PKK, as <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">an<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> organization, had the same goal as the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Turkish <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">state <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">namely to <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">annihilate the Kurds <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">that did not agree with it<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">. That is why the PKK recruited illiterate children and young people from the beginning (1975). Ocalan <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">has stated:<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> \u2018university and bachelor&#8217;s students are a problem for us, they ask too many questions, we can not easily implement our decisions <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">(<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">to kill Kurds and Kurdish scholars<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">)<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> by them\u2019.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span lang=\"en-US\">Therefore, it is an important force for the PKK to <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">suck<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> children, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">the poor<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> and illiterate <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">in<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">to their system of leftist, totalitarian and authoritarian fascism. Those university youths who did not listen to them, Kurdish people who did not implement their decisions, were killed by the PKK. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">O<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">calan himself confessed in court that he had killed 20,000 Kurdish and pro-Kurdish youths. The recruitment of children and youth by the PKK <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">actually served<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Turkish<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> colonial state&#8217;s policy of exterminating the Kurds. The PKK initially established this system in North Kurdistan (Turkey), then moved strongly to <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Syrian Kurds when they had their camps there<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">From there on, the virus spread across other Kurdish societies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center\"><span lang=\"en-US\">More information about the PKK&#8217;s initial mobilization and the killing of its (Kurdish) rivals can be read in the book:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=6rcUCgAAQBAJ&amp;printsec=frontcover&amp;dq=blood+and+belief&amp;hl=fa&amp;sa=X&amp;ved=2ahUKEwi7tKav6aH1AhXYLs0KHQJ0Dk4Q6AF6BAgJEAI#v=onepage&amp;q=blood%20and%20belief&amp;f=false\">Blood and Belief by Aliza Marcus.<br \/>\nClick here to read several chapters of the book.<\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"western\">The recruitment of children in PKK\u2019s various wings today<\/h2>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">Although both the SDF under Mazloum Kobani\u2019s lead with the UN special representative for children\u2019s rights, the PJAK leadership with the organization Geneva Call in 2015, and the PKK itself at several times throughout its bloody history have signed conventions not to recruit children for the purpose of war, the recruitment of children continues widely.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span lang=\"en-US\">In 2021, 47 Kurdish children were abducted in <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">North-East Syria<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> alone. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Several<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> of them are also sick. The PKK \/ PYD <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">does so because it <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">can only implement its decisions with children in order to carry out a legitimate operation in <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Syria<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> in the interest of the Kurds <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">there<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">. So <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">it<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> kidnaps them and makes them soldiers.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">Guchloo\u2019s statement is on point. The PKK has established a tight network of ruling organs in its controlled territories in Syria, that target all layers of society, and especially children. From ideological lessons about Ocalan and leftist theory in elementary school, through youth clubs such as the \u201cRevolutionary Youth\u201d (Ciwanen Shoreshger, infamous for recruiting minors and sending them to Qandil for arms training), and the neighborhood watch which baptized HPC, which also recruits at a younger age (16+), but then passes these recruits on to YPG and YPJ.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"FRcpDMQ8ku\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ikhrw.com\/en\/article\/recruitment-of-11-kurdish-children-in-north-east-syria-ids-provided\/\">Recruitment of 11 Kurdish children in North-East Syria (IDs provided)<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"&#8220;Recruitment of 11 Kurdish children in North-East Syria (IDs provided)&#8221; &#8212; Iranian Kurdistan Human Rights Watch\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ikhrw.com\/en\/article\/recruitment-of-11-kurdish-children-in-north-east-syria-ids-provided\/embed\/#?secret=uDprLcTAaH#?secret=FRcpDMQ8ku\" data-secret=\"FRcpDMQ8ku\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span lang=\"en-US\">The PKK is a<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">lso a<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> foreigner and occupier in <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Iraqi Kurdistan<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">. It is the enemy of the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Kurdistan Region Government<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">. It is <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">in fact trying to <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">build an army to defeat <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">it<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">. This war, too, is not a legitimate war.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<span lang=\"en-US\">When it comes to<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> kidnapping kids <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">in Iraqi Kurdistan..<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">. The PKK has reportedly recruited more Kurdish children <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">than<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> ISIS in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arknews.net\/en\/node\/29806\">Sinjar<\/a>. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">And in Iranian Kurdistan<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">, children are kidnapped and recruited <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">at a young age, perhaps to prevent them from being reached by the other Kurdish opposition groups there, that are stricter about age in their recruitment process.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<b><span lang=\"en-US\">What the PKK does is a crime. It is a crime against humanity. It is against the International Convention on the Rights of the Child. It is against Kurdishness and what Kurdistan stands for. It is against all the values \u200b\u200bof Kurds and Kurdistan.
