{"id":1379,"date":"2020-04-07T14:12:16","date_gmt":"2020-04-07T09:42:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ikhrw.com\/en\/?p=1379"},"modified":"2020-04-07T14:12:24","modified_gmt":"2020-04-07T09:42:24","slug":"fire-in-refugee-camp-kills-4-children","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ikhrw.com\/en\/report\/fire-in-refugee-camp-kills-4-children\/","title":{"rendered":"Fire in refugee camp kills 4 children"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><br> A horrific fire that occurred in a tent in Newroz refugee camp, in the countryside of Derik, North-East Syria, has killed four children, one adult, and injured 11 others severely, all from one family.   <br> A source inside the camp stated that during the preparation of food, an electric pressure cooker exploded, which was followed by the explosion of a heater on Friday evening, inside a tent of a displaced family.   <br> The source added: &#8220;There are attempts by the Kurdish Red Crescent to obtain approval to transport the burned people to hospitals in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.&#8221; This is very difficult at the moment due the closure of all borders.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"731\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ikhrw.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/04\/Agir.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1381\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ikhrw.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/04\/Agir.png 731w, https:\/\/www.ikhrw.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/04\/Agir-300x205.png 300w, https:\/\/www.ikhrw.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/04\/Agir-220x150.png 220w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 731px) 100vw, 731px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><br> Newroz Camp consists of about 103 families, who have been displaced from Sere-Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), in addition to displaced persons from Tal Abyad, Kobani and Afrin.  <br> These families have gone through great ordeal during the ISIS occupation, PYD federalism and then being attacked by the Turkish-backed rebels which have occupied their homes.
